Marcella Samba Sesay

CHAIR PERSON

Marcella Samba-Sesay is one of Sierra Leone’s finest female political analyst and governance expert. She is dedicated to ensuring democratic change in Sierra Leone politics and that governance is pro-poor and values citizens’ rights and welfare. She is the Executive Director Campaign for Good Governance (CGG); Sierra Leone’s lead governance advocacy institution. She is also the chairperson National Election Watch (NEW) leading a coalition of over 400 international and local organizations across the country and charged with the responsibility of promoting accountability and transparency in Public Elections.

James Albert Lahai

NATIONAL COORDINATOR

James Albert Lahai, a Sierra Leonean with  a first class honours degree in geography and post graduate diploma in Population Studies, Demography and social Statistics from the University of  Sierra Leone, Fourah Bay College
and Political Science from the Milton Margai Teachers college now named the Milton
Margai college of Education and Technology. I am also currently the national coordinator of National Election Watch a coalition of over 400 organisations working on citizens’ elections observation.  Membership to the coalition is by organisation and so I represent the Sierra Leone Teachers Union in NEW.

Badriatu Turay Alghali

Quality Assurance Officer

Badriatu Turay Alghali a Civil Society Activist with wealth of experience over the years, has worked at the National Commission for Democracy (NCD) as a volunteer in 2015, where she engaged in public education and community outreach activities as well as representing the Commission in various platforms such as collaborative meetings with other Government Institutions and MDAs. This was her stepping stone to professional career.

Since 2017 to date, she has worked at the National Election Watch (NEW), where she grew through the ranks from Volunteer, Assistant Project Officer and currently the Quality Assurance Officer of NEW. Her primary scope of work is on election management and observation. She has been a key player in the implementation of election activities across the 16 Districts in Sierra Leone during and post 2018 election cycle and the current 2023 electoral cycle.

SALLIEU

Mr. Sallieu Kamara

SPOKES PERSON

Sallieu Kamara is a human rights journalist, play writer, theatre Director and civil society activist for the past 28 years. As a journalist, his work always focused on driving social change and influencing the national agenda setting.

 He served as editor of the For Di People Newspaper during Sierra Leone’s turbulent periods of war and military dictatorships in the late 80s and 90s. He also edited the then monthly newsletter (The Network) of the Network Movement for Justice and Development (NMJD), where he currently works as Director of Knowledge Management and Communication. He’s worked in various capacities at management levels in the media, community broadcasting and civil society.

Bai Sheka E. Conteh

ADMIN/FINANCE MANAGER

Mr. Conteh has more than 12 years of experience in working as Administrator and Finance officer/Manager in Government, Civil Society organization and international non-profit organizations in Sierra Leone. His particular area of expertise centers on Administration and Finance Sector in developing and strengthening good administration, human resource management, Procurement and Supply Chain and good principles of Budgeting, financial management and Reporting. Conteh holds a Higher National Diploma in Accounting and Finance, Certificate in Budgeting Essentials, Certificate in Grant Management and Reporting Essentials, Certificate in Electoral Administration and Civic Education..
